Mammoth Mountain

Mammoth Mountain is the only site on the entire east side of the High Sierra that you need an USHPA license to fly at. It is heavily restricted because it is a very technical flying site that lies on property leased by Mammoth Mountain Resort. Quite a neat spot to fly from, but you have to jump through some hoops to fly here. Here are the requirements-

*P4 minimum

*Verbal Authorization from one of the site managers, Dave Turner or Kari Castle

*Site intro from a local

*Initial meeting with the Resort’s Health and Safety Manager

*Photocopy of your USHPA card for the resort to hang on to

After meeting the initial requirements, you must call┬áthe Resort’s Health and Safety Manager before flying each day. This is just a quick check in, but sometimes they will deny access for the day if they are super busy or are making repairs in the area.
